Grant Applications

The District Grants Subcommittee (DGS) has approved a new District Simplified Grant (DSG) Application complete with Criteria and Guidelines. The DSG form can be used for domestic AND international projects with matching funds from District 5580. District 5580 applies to TRF and receives $24,000 each year (provided all reports are filed in a timely manner) in DSG monies and issues grant funds on a first come, first serve basis. The DSG Application takes the place of the former Community Assistance Project (CAP) Application, which is now obsolete. DSG Grant Criteria Guidelines

The DGS has just approved a new World Community Service (WCS) Application form for use . . . WCS Applications are for “bricks and mortar” type international projects (such as schools and clinics) and small water projects where the amount needed is less than the $5,000 minimum required by RI. These projects are funded through grants solely issued by District 5580 and funded by a tariff on D5580 Rotarians of $10 per year per Rotarian.

The Rotary Foundation (TRF) has just revised their TRF Application form for 2008/2009. TRF Applications are for international projects other than “bricks and mortar” type international projects such as water projects, educational supplies or health related items where the amount needed is more than $5,000 from RI. These projects are matched by TRF at 100% on the District match and 50% on the Rotary Club amount given. Therefore, the minimum total amount for a TRF Grant Application is $12,000 and the minimum amount funded by a Rotary Club (or if partnering with other Rotary Clubs) is $3,400.

Applications will be reviewed for projects electronically submitted to the DGS Chair by the 30th of the month preceding the scheduled meeting. Applications must include a letter of request from the host Rotary Club along with a map specific to the area of the project (or GPS coordinates) including a budget and floor plans. When making application, if questions should arise, you may contact any member of the DGS.
