The Dickinson Rotary Club held a Pancake Karnival Sept. 26 to benefit PolioPlus™ and our club’s $2,500/year over 3 years contribution to the $200 Million Challenge. Last year, the club paid the funds out of the budget. This year, past DG Jim Ozbun organized a Pancake Karnival for the entire community that coincided with Dickinson State University’s homecoming festivities. The event was held in the new Badlands Activities Center on the DSU campus.

The club served pancakes, sausage and beverages from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Excess sausage was sold and 70 pounds of sausage was donated to the Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center for meals for shelter residents. Net proceeds from the event exceeded $5,000, thanks to awesome publicity, donations, volunteers and ticket sales. Special guest at the event was past DG David Fihn, District 5580 PolioPlus™ chairman.
